Night Vision and Moving Targets

We received a call from Patrick last night. He is doing well, and his cold is starting to get better. He is still having problems with his knee. Some days it feels better to him, while others it feels worse. The temperature in Georgia is starting to get much colder Patrick says. I checked online at weather.com and it says that the daily temperatures are in the 70s there. I think Patrick has gotten use to the warmer climate in the summer! He has passed his First Responders test and will receive his certificate at graduation. Patrick has a big PT test coming up soon, and he is still worried about it because of his knee. If he does not pass this test he will not be granted time off during family weekend in November. We are all keeping our fingers crossed and praying that he passes and his knee holds up. Currently Patrick is very excited about the area they are focusing on during training. He is working on advanced riflery skills, using night vision goggles, and shooting at moving targets during the day and the night. His Drill Sergeants have told him that they all have about $10,000 worth of high tech gear on each of them. Part of Patrick’s duties as a Squad Leader is looking for contraband among the people in his platoon that he is in charge of. Out of his whole platoon lately there has been a lot of contraband, so lately Patrick has had to spend time before lights out going through people bunks. He is hoping he will get the opportunity to call home again this weekend. He expects that he will be done with training on December 12, but be immediately moved to whichever base or location he will be stationed at (his “home” base). After this move it is expected that he will receive some leave time. More to follow as we hear more!
