Well I have heard from Patrick twice this week. He is doing very good, and has been working alot. He has a room that he is sharing with one other soldier, and he does have internet access finally hooked up. Patrick said he has been surprised at how cold it is in Texas. Some days this week the temperature was in the 30's.
Patrick gave me the info. on one of the guns he will be carrying while on his deployment. It is a M240B and Pat says it weighs about 33 pounds without any ammo. Here are some pictures, one of the gun, and one of the gun mounted on a vehicle so you can see its true size.
